Ammar Chhantyal is a dynamic public servant and acclaimed food entrepreneur known for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the global Nepali community. As the founder of the Mt. Everest Restaurant chain, he has successfully branded and popularized Nepali cuisine across multiple locations, turning dining into a platform for cultural diplomacy and community connection.
A lifelong advocate for diaspora engagement, Mr. Chhantyal has served in several prominent leadership roles within the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). He was a Board Member of the National Coordination Council (NCC) America (2019–2021) and chaired the Membership Policy-Making Committee, helping to shape inclusive and forward-thinking frameworks for global Nepali participation. A Life Member of NRNA, he was recognized in November 2020 for his heroic service to communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Chhantyal also held the position of International Executive Committee President of the Myagdi Overseas Nepalese Association (MONA) from 2021–2023 and now serves as its Chief Advisor from the United States. Under his leadership, MONA strengthened its mission to unify the global Myagdi diaspora and expand transnational networks through global conferences and grassroots solidarity. Mr. Chhantyal served as the president of Myagdi Samaj USA (2017 to 2019) before going to serve on the global committee.
In recognition of his outstanding civic contributions, Mr. Chhantyal has received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from President Joe Biden and the INAS National Honor 2025 from the International Nepalese Artists Society for his exemplary service to society.
